ScoutMi is Perth’s first photography location finder mobile application. Created and updated with local insider knowledge, it’s one tool for every type of photographer.

I began this project during my final year of my bachelor's in graphic design, but it has shown enough promise and generated some interest to continue working on it. I was accepted into the Spacecubed Sprint program which allowed me to continue to refine the idea, work on research and begin pitching the idea to new networks in the start-up arena.

Introduction
ScoutMi is a community focused project which focuses on accessibility and allows users to contribute, share and discuss the best place to take photos. Be it, trendy, professional, family-friendly or iconic Perth, there’s a perfect spot for every occasion.
Perth is a special and unique city, get the insider tips and put Perth and yourself in the spotlight.
These introduction screens give a brief explanation as to the core aims of the app, a glimpse into the brand and the slogan SEARCH. SNAP. SHARE.
Onboarding
With a focus on the user experience, I defined 4 particular personas the 'happy snapper' can choose from. These are defined as: the parent, the local photographer or Instagram influencer, the tourist or Perth newbie and the mature photographer.
Depending on the user they've selected they will be given a various selection of filter options that will help choose a location.
The below flatlay outlines the options for the perth local / Instagram influencer.
User Journey
As per these two images, this particular user is able to browse locations through numerous filters. Funnelling options by choice of colour, themes, lighting and the map, gives more structure to their deliberate choices.
Another very handy feature of this app is the ability to create and share your own locations. Not only does it foster and encourage a sense of community within Perth but it allows creatives to have an index or catalogue of all their favourite spots to refer to or share with friends or clients.
